Denison city leaders set a blueprint for the upcoming fiscal year Tuesday night with the approval of the upcoming 2026-2027 fiscal year budget. The council brought the annual budget season to a close when they voted unanimously to approve a nearly $81 million budget that will finance city operations for the next year.The city is expecting a tight budget year for 2026-2027, with revenue sources remaining stagnant, increasing costs and the city ending the fiscal year with almost the same amount of reserve funding as it began the year.“We are here tonight to adopt the fiscal year 27 budget, and that will become effective October 1,” Denison Finance Director Laurie Alsabbagh said.This week’s approval marks the end of months of work by city staff and elected officials dating back to the spring when the city first held its early budget meetings.
