Despite two months of setbacks and delays, a proposed 183-acre development got its day before the Sherman City Council Monday night. In a unanimous vote, the city council voted to approve an annexation, rezoning and development agreement for the Sherman Lakes development, located along Tate Circle in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.The development first went before city officials in late April, when the Planning and Zoning Commission voted to table the zoning request amid opposition and concerns from nearby property owners in unincorporated Grayson County.

After two years, a zoning request for a new Sherman Development finally made its way to the Sherman City Council this week. In a unanimous vote, the City Council approved a planned development designation and the proposed Joiner Ranch planned development, located along Blue Flame Road.The project was initially approved by the Sherman Planning & Zoning Commission almost two years ago in July 2024.
